Just last month, Workscape celebrated its 10 year anniversary. Like all businesses, we've been through ups-and-downs through the years and although today's economic conditions are unprecedented, we've helped our clients to weather some pretty rough storms. From the soaring highs of the dot-com years, through the inevitable bubble burst, right on into the “Web 2.0” innovations that followed... we've been through it all and proudly help our clients keep pace with these constantly evolving business dynamics.
As I reflect on all the changes of the past decade and, more importantly, work with my team on that which will enable us to continue to grow and prosper well into our second decade and beyond, there's one inescapable point which continues to come front-and-center in my thoughts: it's all about the people. Regardless of the ebb and flow of business, technology and political climates, the one foundation that will remain at the center of an organization's ultimate success or failure is the reliance upon the creativity and effort of its workforce.
Admittedly it's not a novel concept, nor is it one that is particularly profound. But amidst the chaos of a tough economy and the constant need to “do more with less,” it's a concept that sometimes gets lost in the boardrooms, spreadsheets and day-to-day activities of running a business. That's why it's important to take a step back every now-and-then and recall the fundamental elements of building a successful work environment:
This approach – this Employee-Centric view of HR – has been a cornerstone of Workscape's growth and success throughout the years and it's at the heart of every well-run organization with which we have the pleasure of conducting business. It's what enables us to drive innovation in the marketplace and it's at the core of every piece of technology and every service offering we provide.
So as we begin to write the next chapter in the company's history, I wanted to pause for a moment to say “thank you” to our clients, our partners and – most importantly – our employees. By continuing to focus on the fundamentals of helping teams to work smarter, HR organizations to run smoother and individual employees to have a more rewarding work experience, Workscape can help you to prosper in even the most challenging of economic times while readying the business for the opportunities that tomorrow will most assuredly bring.
